The week actually started off on Tuesday with BC and Vermont gaining victories.
Vermont will look for their second Hockey East victory as they will play Boston University at Agganis Arena. BU is off to a 1-1 start in Hockey East defeating and losing to UMASS-Lowell. Overall they are 1-2 with the other loss to RPI.
John Curry has not been living up to they hype after a great year in his Sophomore year. The walk-on goaltender is 1-1 with a 3.17 goals against average with 8 goals allowed in 3 games. Peter McArthur, John Laliberte, and Brandon Yip each have two goals, the rest of the team has only scored 3.
For Vermont goalie Joe Fallon continues to shine as the league change has not effected him one bit. He is 6-0 with a 1.66 goals against average pretty impressive. Senior Brady Leisenring and Sophomore Torrey Mitchell lead the league in scoring both scoring 13 points. Vermont is coming off their first ever Hockey East win as they defeated Northeastern 5-3 with all 5 goals coming in the first period.
Can BU stop Vermont's winning streak? We will know that on Friday
In other College Hockey action this weekend
Minnesota and Minnesota-Duluth will face each other for state bragging rights. (well for one week anyway) Minnesota is coming off a weekend split against St Cloud State. Phil Kessel has been impressive on his campaign to be the #1 pick in next years NHL Entry Draft. UMD on the other hand is coming off a 3 point weekend over Michigan Tech. Howevery, the struggling Bulldogs are not getting it done on defense giving up nearly 4 goals a game.
Also North Dakota and Wisconsin will face off. North Dakota is coming off a split with defending National Champion Denver last week. Despite having 6 games against top 20 teams (going 3-2-1), the Fighting Sioux are still impressive going 5-2-1 overall. Wisconsin swept Alaska-Anchorage last week to improve to 4-1-1 and are 3-0-1 in the conference.
Ohio State will look to rebound from a slow start as they will face Miami (Ohio) in a home and home series.
And Quinnipiac will play in its first two ECACHL games as the Bobcats will face Harvard Friday (in Hartford) and Dartmouth on Saturday.
