Tuesday Roundup BC and UVM with huge wins

Before last year the Boston College Eagles have had bad luck playing at New Hampshire. Well that all changed on Feburary 26, 2005 when the Eagles defeated the Wildcats 5-2 on their home ice. Last night was notthing different even though the game was played in Manchester.

Chris Collins got things started with his 7th goal of the season with 1:25 left in the first period. Collins' goal now puts him 2nd in the country in goals scored.

UNH would bounce right back when Craig Switzer scored from Brett Hemmingway and Daniel Winnik to tie the game at 1 his first of the season 5:15 into the second period. UNH would score again in the second with Winnik scroing from Brian Yandle and Switzer 12:35 into the second period. But BC would bounce right back as Pat Gannon grabbed a rebound from Brian Boyle's shot and scored to tie the game at 2.

The third period saw alot of shots on goal taken in the period with 28 combined shots. (15 for BC, 13 for UNH) Brock Bradford for BC however scored the game winning goal off a bad angle with 2:51 left in the third period to give BC the 3-2 victory.

Cory Schneider for BC made 33 saves in the victory while Kevin Regan for UNH stopped 35 shots.

There was another game last night where Vermont got their 1st victory in Hockey East moving to 7-0 as they defeated Northeastern 5-3 with all 5 goals coming in the first period. Senior Jeff Corey and Freshman Peter Lenes each had 2 goals while Dean Strong added another goal for the Catamounts. Joe Vitale for Northeastern would score 2 goals but it wasant enough as Vermont got the milestone victory.

Joe Fallon made 21 saves for Vermont in the victory while Adam Garagosian got yanked after the first period letting up 5 goals.

Vermont travels to Boston University on Friday Night. Will their undefeated streak continue? Or will BU defend their home ice.
